Holy Cross Academy completed their second straight undefeated season with a 4-0 victory over Mohawk Valley in the NCAC Championship Game.  The Crusaders (18-0) outshot the Eagles 18-4 and took the early lead 5 minutes into the 1st quarter on the first of Martin Koegst's two goals.  The Eagle's defense toughened up against the relentless offensive attack of the home team and went into halftime trailing by a 1-0 score.  Koegst scored again early in the 3rd period on an assist from Matt Collins and Andrew Vanderhoof and Mattt Collins added goals in the 4th period.

Joshua Gorman made 14 saves for Mohawk Valley while his counterpart Mike Periard recorded the Crusaders 9th shutout of the season.

MVCA 2, NLCS 1   (Sudden Death)  -  Playing at times through a pouring rain, MVCA and NLCS played to a 1-1 tie at halftime.  Each teams chances to score in the second half were nullified by the excellent goal play by both teams.  Each team made two goals in the 5 player shootout.  Joshua Gorman finally buried the game winner high in the net for the win.

GIRLS SOCCER FINALS

Thursday, Oct 18  -  For the 5th year in a row the New Life Christian School Warriors and the Holy Cross Academy Crusaders met in the championship game of the NCAC Girls Soccer Tournament, with this game was perhaps the most evenly matched game of them all.  New Life was the host of the game which took place in Earlville, NY.  Through two 40 minute halves and two 5 minute overtime periods, neither team was able to score, as the Crusaders Hannah Scheuerman recorded 16 saves and New Life's Brittany Hojnowski recorded 17 saves in goal.  The game would have to be decided in a sudden death shootout.  Both teams missed on their first chance in the shootout.  Holy Cross scored on second shot followed by a New Life miss. Both teams missed their third shots on goal, and both teams made their 4th shots on goal.  With the Crusaders leading 2-1 in the shootout, the final shot was made giving Holy Cross its first NCAC Girls Championship.
